SECOND, long-time Rotarians agree that INVOLVEMENT is the key.  An involved Rotarian is an enthusiastic Rotarian and a productive Rotarian for our community.

Ms. Kathy Watts

Club President, 200-2009

For example, within the Rotary Club of Jackson you can actively participate on the committee to which you have been assigned, as a greeter for weekly meetings, and as part of a service project team. Help to plan an event or host a Rotary Classic basketball team for lunch.  Possibilities for service are endless and up to you!

Mr. Larry Boyd

District Governor, 2008-2009

Our district, Rotary District 6760 , also offers opportunities for you to get involved. Attend our District Conference, in 2006 this conference will be held right here in Jackson!  Learn more about Rotary and celebrate the good works of your district through its plenary and breakout sessions.   To develop your Rotary leadership skills apply for the District Leadership Academy - a self-study program hosted by Past District Governors.

A Rotary District is a geographical area in which Rotary clubs are combined for RI administrative purposes. The activities and organization of a Rotary district shall exist solely to help the individual Rotary club advance the Object of Rotary and should not tend to diminish services provided by Rotary clubs and individual Rotarians on the local level.  District 6760 is comprised of 65 clubs and approximately 3,700 Rotarians, located in Middle and West Tennessee, excluding Memphis.

You can also host the visiting Group Study Exchange Team or help organize our district's new Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program to see what clubs working together can do. These activities will help you meet Rotarians outside of our club, widening your circle of friends and expanding your service potential.

Dong Kurn Lee

RI President, 2007-2008

Rotary International can help you get involved on a global level, as well.  Explore the RI website to its fullest. You can also attend RI's Annual International Convention to meet with Rotarians from around the world and get ideas for club activities and service projects.

Join a Rotary Fellowship to network with Rotarians who share your vocation or interest. Rotary transcends national boarders. By participating in international activities, you are part of a global network of professionals seeking world peace and understanding.

The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs. It is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.

Become a  Paul Harris Fellow  and hlep the club continue its tradition as the first and, currently, only  100% Paul Harris Fellow Club  in the district.

THIRD, along with opportunities for service, networking and personal growth Rotarians embrace the RESPONSIBILITIES of membership as follows:

  • Members are expected to attend weekly programs of the club. Opportunities to make up attendance include attending the regular meeting of another Rotary club, attending various other Rotary meetings, or attending a club service project authorized by the club board of directors.

  • Members are required to pay annual dues to their clubs, their districts, and to Rotary International.

  • Members are expected to participate in local or international activities or projects of the Rotary club.

  • Clubs encourage members to aspire to leadership or committee roles within their clubs.
